WindSat - Ocean Surface Wind Vector Measurements from Space

WindSat is a demonstration program to evaluate the capability to exploit passive microwave polarimetry to measure the full ocean surface wind field (wind speed and wind direction) from space. WindSat is one of two payloads on board the Coriolis spacecraft. Coriolis was successfully launched from Vandenburg Air Force Base on board a Titan II launch vehicle on January 6, 2003 into an 830 km (448 nmi) Sun-synchronous orbit.

Praxis provided program management, website design and administration, project coordination, graphic design, documentation/technical writing, and program scheduling for the WindSat program.

For more information about WindSat, visit the Naval Research Laboratory's WindSat web page or the NPOESS WindSat web page.
