Joint Task Force Katrina
At the request of the Commander, Naval Installations, the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) deployed two of their InfraLynx communications infrastructure restoration vehicles to New Orleans in support of Joint Task Force Katrina. Praxis personnel drove the vehicle pictured here to New Orleans, and Praxis provided a rotating force of technicians to man these vehicles. Praxis personnel formed part of an NRL contractor team that provided communications restoration at several sites around New Orleans.
The InfraLynx team provided critical communications for the on-scene commanders, as well as civilian and military telephone centers at the SuperDome. These centers provided many people with their first contact with loved ones following Katrina.
Praxis also provided vital administrative and material support from Washington, DC, and provided equipment and technical expertise to create a mission operations center for the JTF Katrina deployment at NRL Building 240.
