|Description:||Praxis, Inc., a leading-edge technology company providing

industry, is searching for a Senior Spacecraft Mechanisms
Engineer to work at the Naval Research Laboratory in
Work as the lead mechanisms engineer on a complex
satellite design program for the Naval Research
Laboratory. Specific responsibilities include, but are not
limited to, the following:
• Design release mechanisms, scan drive systems, and
precision closed-loop pointing systems for medium to long
design mission time space vehicles (5-15 years).
• Create error budgets and implement controls on system
error for pointing.
Successful candidates should have experience designing and
testing spacecraft mechanisms on successful space vehicle
programs and should be familiar with scanning antenna
systems for space vehicles as well as with deployment
mechanisms for antennas and solar panels.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
and 8-12 years aerospace mechanical design experience, or
master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and
6 years aerospace mechanical design experience.
• A minimum of four years’ experience designing mechanisms
for space vehicles.
• Expertise in one or more 3-D design tools (Unigraphics
• Experience designing space vehicles to Class 1
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, team
oriented, flexible, innovative and able to perform well in
an unstructured environment are all required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Project, Word,
Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
• Must be a US Citizen
• Selected applicant will be subject to a government
security investigation and must meet eligibility
requirements associated with access to classified
• A Secret clearance is required immediately. Ability to
obtain higher clearance desired.
